Looking for some knowledge on how to adjust the drive clutch on my HD6G. The dozer moves but the clutch lever doesn't have a nice snap to engage it. I got a feelin once I start working it, it's going to slip. Is there any adjustment or does it need to be replaced?

Also, got the dozer cheap cause it needs a radiator.

Any ideas?

The HD6G have a cluch adjustement screw hex head on front pressure plate cluch and you loose her and with a screw driver turne the notched ring adj.until the properadjustement obtained (30) pounds maximum for a good snap.

So the HD6 uses the same type clutch as unsed in HD5 ?

If so there are 3 bolts on clutch and be sure to use the proper one for adjuster.

A large screwdriver or tire bar works good for turning the adjuster ring .

Do I access this threw the inspection cover on the right side of the bell housing?

Access through the cover on the right side. Early HD6's had the Rockford clutches, however after serial number 1697, they had Auburn clutches. The Rockford uses the snap to lock the rotating ring to adjust the clutch tension. Our HD6B utilizes that clutch and has the latch broken off the clutch pack so the rotating ring will not stay tight.

I'll take a look at my serial no# again. I believe the dozer is a 1951. I'm not sure what clutch it has. Like said earlier, the dozer moves, but the handle pulls back real eazy. Not much snap. Seems like it should be adjusted. Hope there's some clutch left?

The HD6G must have a AUBURN cluch and if it't the adjustement it could be the small link and cam could be too worn and just sold a set to a guy for is HD6G

All advice has been helpful. Got the clutch adjusted. There was one 9/16" (HEAD) bolt to loose and just notches to pry clockwise. Three notches and it feels much better.

There was also two flat head slotted screws that didn't seem to do much.

What are they for?

Should they be snug?

These 2 flat head screw are loose and are there for hold the slyding ring adj.
