How hard is it on the hydraulic pump? The tractor I bought had a double acting valve installed with the return line plumbed into the filler/check fitting on the left side. I guess they just left the lever behind the steering wheel all the way up so the pump would run continuously. I removed the 2 way valve and found the lift arms would go up and not come down. Someone here told me to move the front screw on the pump in and out and work the lever. That freed up the spool/plunger and it works fine now. I suspect the PO had left the lever behind the wheel up all the time. Pump seems good though and handles my Paulson loader alright.

Now I am wondering about running a log spliter? If a 3 inch bore tie rod cylinder would stand the pressure. Haven't looked for the psi rating on that type of cylinder yet. Was the WD pump 2500 psi or more?

Thanks!

You can buy cylinders rated at 3000 psi. They will handle  a certain amount more than that. Now just put a guage on your system, just might be 3000 psi after a little wear. Also, the return could go into the drain instead of filler/ check cap when using that set-up. How hard is it on the pump? It is submerged in oil, should be ok. Just go with it, till it takes a break. Good luck.

Don't know what kind of valve they used, but most of the valves have a pressure relief built in at around 2000-2500.  MACK

"just put a gauge on"

It sounds so simple. Where might someone add a gauge to a wd45?

Put a quick connect on the gauge and plug it into the remote.
