It's a work light. Should have a clear lense, if you're talking about the one directly over the PTO shield. If you have a little red bullet light on the fender, it's not original(to my knowledge). I would check on E-bay or one of the vendors that advertise on this site, like Tony or some of the other fine folks.

AJ,

Which lens do you need?  A factory B/C tail light has two lenses:  a clear, disc shaped lens which is aimed back and down towards where an implement would be, and a red cylinder shaped lens that shines up and back through a window in the housing.

I don't believe either of these lenses is a stock item anywhere, and they are both hard to come by.  I hunted a long time for the red one and ended up using pieces of an old one glued together.

Norm---norm's toys Norm---used to have these assemblies but I believe he's sold out of them.  He might still have some parts?

Those tail lights are seldom found and always nice to see on a B or C.

I have been looking for the whole assy with no luck. I though I hag the bent up old housing that was on my B but can't find it. It must be with the brake cover that is MIA also.

^ what Bill said.

I'm lucky, I've got mine, its always been intact, never broken, and 100% original. Haha. So far I think I'm the only one lucky enough to have this situation. I just need to get some "innards" for it and a bulb for it so it works.

So this light isn't a standard part?.... The 3" round lens is suppost to be clear and the little opening is suppose to be red? I was told by a guy I showed it to said that it was the other way around.

Yes it was a standard part but is no longer available. I believe at one time, someone was making a reproduction light that had the red round lens and the clear rectangle lens. It's too bad they didn't take the time to get it right.

This tail light was a "standard", factory part on most B's and C's.  I think some late models went to a bullet type tail light, maybe Ken in Texas, Bill Long or one of our 'B guys' could clarify on this.  At least one fellow on the forum has an in-the-box NOS tail light assembly and has posted pictures of it here before.

It's counterintuative, but the round lens (part #6 below) is definitely clear and the globe/cylinder lens (part 3)  is red.  A crafty guy with a heat gun, a strip of clear plastic and some red lens repair tape could probably fabricate a substitute red lens.

What was the point of having the red lens facing up? That just don't make sence to me. I would think the round lens would act as a brake/warning/safty light and the little rectagular would shine down at your draw bar area.

The round lens should point down to be able to see the implement and what you are doing. The red side lens should point back.

Everyone seems to adjust them to be perpendicular to the ground and that makes the white lens point back.  Notice the mounting bracket is not 90 degrees.  JC has it right, the red acutally points back (and up a little) and the white poins down (and back a little).

Have a nos round red lense for one of these lights.

From a C Allis Owners book.

                                   TAIL LIGHT
The tail light is mounted on the rear seat frame angle for use as a tail light and also for vision if equiped with a white lense.

I think the key words here are ALSO and IF. But. Can you have it both ways?

I've seen them with both a full red lens, and a white lens. We have a nice repro of the lamp equipped with the tailight type red lens and white half moon lens.

mailto:Steve@B&B - Steve@B&B    I have seen them both ways too.
Exactly the point I was trying to make by reading  the C manual.  Aparently it was a user friendly option to have a clear lens lamp for vision or a red lens lamp for a tail light way back in the day.
