Idle wheel yolk and slack adjuster screw. I can maybe fix mine, we'll see which is cheaper

lou, i have a yolk but not sure if i have an adjuster for the g. it will have the b adjuster. we both are in pa. are you still looking for final drive parts as i am scrapping soon and need to lighten the load. let me know and i will look for the adjuster this weekend.

I made up adjuster out of square tube and threaded rod welded into it and as the yoke threads seem to go bad I used a large nut on threaded rod to apply the pressure. I did this on 2 machines I sold , On mine the parts were good enough to just clean up threads and never -sieze and it works .

Might have the Y yoke but PA is long way to ship.

On the guides for the front ideler I made new plates and shims and bought the pins from Minnpar to allign and hold to truck frame .

Dad, to answer your question, I'm not sure yet. I have two machines. I originally bought the second for parts to keep the first running. Then, in typical fashion, I decided to save them both. However, unless I can get parts very reasonable, I'm back to cannibalizing one to save the other.

One way to clean the threads up is to use battery acid, sulfuric acid as it will remove the rust and dirt from threads without attacking the steel as much as some other acids .

I was going to try electrolysis to try and save the screw, but, I will also need to weld it together, as I had to hacksaw in half to get it off. The yolk has been split and re-welded in two places in it's life.....looking pretty sad. The splits were parallel to the adjuster screw, I can't tell if they (the cracks) went all the way through or not, possibly allowing slop in the threads once I get the rusted screw loose.......IF they didn't weld the screw to the yolk! If I could get another yolk I could possibly have the threaded portion of the slack screw made and weld to the back half of the screw. But, there again, cost is starting to go up

Dad,

what do ya gotta get for a yolk and a set of final drive gears? What's the difference between a B and a G screw?

Another cheap rust remover is citric acid; yes just like mrs uses for cooking.

Mix it up at a 10% solution with water and leave it to soak, does require daily stirring tho.

Have also been told you can mix cirtric acid and baking soda in equal parts at a 10% solution with water for something abit stronger, but have yet to try this. but the 1st recipe definetly works.
