There was a discussion here alittle while ago, thet convinced me to try, I did find 27hp twin cylinder diesel engine with the dimentions of a Honda V Twin, I was leaning that direction when I came across a new 24hp Kubota 3 cylinder engine its water cooled so going to have to do some work with that, but I am pretty excited about fitting it, as is the kid who is going to drive it cutting grass.

I saw one that was done up like a 190XT at the gathering of the orange in Oklahoma a few years back. It had a diesel. It may have been a Yanmar out of a John Deere 330 or 430 lawn tractor. I have a JD 330 and it looks like it would be a good choice. It is a 3 cylinder.

I started one of these projects several years ago. I have slowly gotten most of the details worked out and have most of the conversion stuff like shafts and adapters made. Just haven't had time to get back on it yet. I can tell you I started with a 1100cc Kubota diesel 3cyl. 28HP non turbo-ed. It is a hood full and then some. You would be much better off with the 900cc 3 cyl. as you wouldn't have near as much mass to shoe horn into the frame. I have numerous mods to the frame to get it to work but I didn't stretch the frame or change the overall dimensions of the tractor so all attachments could be used as I planned on it being a working tractor. Diesel, power steering, water cooled, etc. Yanmar would be a good choice of engine as well but size will play a huge factor in number of mods needed for it to all work.

If anyone wishes to talk to me about what I have done or ran into doing this I'll be glad to offer my assistance. Lots of us can do wonderful things in their shops, but I see no reason to reinvent the wheel when it comes to mistakes.lol

I have wondered about an aircooled twin diesel as a refit. I have had guys tell me that the aircooled diesels are excellent, others not so much. Would really simplify a repower though. Turn the same rpm and I think the clutch would bolt up without too much trouble. About the same size physically as the cckb, just a thought, Trev.

well if there is enough interest in Vtwin diesel I would import a container, which is 25 engines, The one I found was 1700 bucks but buying direct from the factory was more like 900,plus shipping, which so far has been unpriced, becasue I dont want 25 engines.

The site I saw said $395 for a pallet of 4 engines for shipping. I might be interested in 1. Gets a guy an engine for about $1000 plus duty etc., just a thought, Trev.
