Can anyone tell me if there is a end play setting for the camshaft, and if there is how do you set it. Or does the cam gear keep it in the proper location. I had the teeth wiped off of the cam in the D17, and no sign of the pump seizing. I checked the block that came out of that tractor originally and found the teeth off of that cam to. I guess that's why the crank journals are a nice blue color. Is it just 60 year old parts failure or is this a common problem.

I don't know about the 17's, but the WC has a bolt and jam nut in the timing gear cover. Adjusting that bolt, sets the end play.
