Hi Gang: As usual, I am turning to the best forum of knowledge on the subject for a little help.

I have had my injector pump overhauled and am ready to put it back on. I am familiar with getting it back as removed, but once it is on what are the steps to starting the engine? I am putting new fuel filters in the cannisters when they arrive, but I am concerned as how to remove the air from the system. Any words of wisdom?

There is a bleeder bolt on top of the fuel filter; open it until fuel flows out clearly, tighten. I also "crack" the fitting on the injectors and crank the engine over until I can see fuel coming out of the fittings, then tighten and start as normal. The engine may start with the injector fittings cracked; if so, shut it down and tighten the fittings. "Cracking" the fittings is not always necessary, you may want to try starting the engine without doing this 1st. I avoid using ether as a starting aid

Got rebuilt pump installed last night, we used a vacuum brake bleeder to fill the system as best we could. When we tried to start it, it turned over about 7 revloutions and fired right up even without pre-heating (of course it is about 90 degrees here). For those who are interested the cost of the pump rebuild was $665 and it came with all new washers and a bottle of additive to aid in lubrication as they said the ULS fuel had less lubrication than the old fuel.

The old girl sounds real good again, and it was so good the hear it roar to life last night.
