Cant get my wc to idle right. Magneto sparks on all cylinders and I just had the carb rebuilt. I have tried to time it but I can move the magneto to its full limit and there is no change in the idle. Any help? thanks

How was it before you rebuilt the carb?

It missed before too. Before I had it rebuilt it would only run on choke.

My 35 has a Marvel Schebler off a 47WC. It won't idle either. I did the carb myself and I went through it again after it was completely assembled. The guy that did final assembly also went through it. He says it's cause I don't have the air cleaner hooked up and it's not the "right" carb for the engine. I beg to differ, the 201 in the 47 is the same engine as the 201 in the 35 except now I have 4.125 pistons. Does my idle jet need opened up?

Not meaning to hijack the post Kevin. Just thought I could bring some more thought into this subject.

Well, "missing" and running rough usually refer to two different things. When they will only run w/choke generally means there is "crud" in the fuel passages, or less common, float is hanging up, or sediment bowl is clogged, causing the engine to run way lean. Rebuilding the carb is fine, but if you didn't clean the tank and sediment bowl you are doomed to repeat the process.
Charlie, he's full of it! I wouldn't suspect jets at idle, but I think there is an idle fuel passage that may be still clogged.....it's pretty small. also didn't some of them have an idle adjust for that passage? could it be mis-adjusted?

My 35 has a rebuilt RV4B mag with good spark. Clean tank and new sediment bowl and fuel line to carb. Mine will not clear up with choke, smooths out at high RPM though.

Missing or running rough could mean a lot of things, from something real simple to carbon stuck under a valve, or even a valve going south. A compression check would be in order first on my list of things to do. This will establish a starting point on what's going on inside the engine. Then go from there. If the compression is within spec, it could be something easy up top. Ignition, tight valve. whatever. If the compression is down, or down in one hole, there's a good place to start looking.... HTH

Mine has everything new internally. It surges when you try to idle it cause the governor catches it before it dies when trying to idle. It does run fine at high rpm.
