hooked onto the haybine today and my pto won't kick in & out . It wouldn't kick in then it kicked in but won't kick out. I think that some pin must of sheared. I guess I have to split it to repair that.any suggestions on how to split, where to support frt & rear ? what I have to drain? anything I should watch for when repairing it. I can't find my book on it, so could use some advice. WD will run the haybine ,but the 17 works alot better on the big rd baler. thanks in advance for any help.

There is a roll pin that has fell out.You can drain through plug below under clutch pedal.Open cover on side by power director.Fish old pin out of bottom with magnet if pieces do not come out when drained.Get a 5/16" bolt 2 1/2" long I believe.Get a "Safety" nut and replace roll pin with bolt and nut.Pretty tight and small hands help.I got my fat plumber fingers in there and fixed mine.

pic of shaft where pin goes

Here is bolt in place

Hope this is the problem and helps you out. When mine fell out I thought I was going to have to split the tractor to fix.Dr. Allis and others on here set me straight and I was able to fix it a couple hours. This site is a wonderful resource.

Bruce if you need help give me a call.  I haven't had the sidecover off my D17, but I could offer moral support.  I've got a manual as well if that would help.  Looks like Pat is better than a manual though.
cheers,
Creek

Good deal WP. Glad to be of some help. I was worried I told you 2 1/2", you are right and I believe I used the shorter one like you did.

A lot of people on here a lot more experienced with this stuff than me.Dr.Allis,Mack and others helped me out last year with same problem.

12 year old grandson is a very helpful tool.Glad to see he is turning a wrench instead of playing some video game.

Pat - thanks for sharing those pics...I need to save them.  I remember you talking about this fix and a few weeks ago I verbally shared your information with a guy on YT that e-mailed me about the same problem.  Mike
