I was told this was during the last year of production? any idea on a serial number?

I'd have to look to be sure, but I think they changed for series 3. Check the parts book.

There is no Series III D21. I know there was a change but I'm not sure if it was at the start of the Series II or later.

Now I have to look at the different D17's on my place. No Series III or IV but I think I remember telling Dad when I first brought my 58 home that his 61 looked wider in the finals. I forgot all about that. I'll have to take a look at my uncle's Series III too.

Effective D21 sn 3596 the bull gears became 3 1/4 inches wide....prior gears were 2 3/4 inches wide. Looks to me like later on in 1967 the improvement (which was needed) was put into production.
