There are probably lots of answers to your question, depending on how much you want to do.  You could get a D17 or D19 to that, as well as a 175,180 or 185. I have a 200 that I carried to our local pull and weighed it, it was 7200# and that was with cast centers in the rear, no fluid or add on weights. Lots of options just depends on what you have and how much effort you want to spend. Also are the 7000# class allow turbo's?

a 190 or 200 is your better bet. Have built 185's but you dont get the speeds you need with a 190 -200 you can get a better speed, they can be stripped down to give you some room to arrange weights and the 301 can put up with ALOT of abuse. If you want a 301 head aired out and big valves I have one here Id sell and also a cam for pulling.

How strict are the rules? I used to pull with a D17 in Farm stock with strict rules on factory equipment and did fantastic in the 6,500# and 7,500# classes. It won't kill in 1st gear. If you're gonna go up against some stripped down, horsed up 190 then forget the D17. Get Field & Road Firestones too.

The rules are pretty Lax here, the tractor is supposed to be out of field but some of the one that pull are crazy fast (Fire 2 feet out of the pipe)
It would be only for fun as I can't compete money wise with the big boys.
