Is it possible to pull and plant with a drill using a Model B? I realize the hydraulics would need to be modified, but wanted to know if anyone has ever done this wiith success. Sorry if I am way off on this topic, but I have only had experience with a planter, but would be more interested in a drill. Thanks for the help in advance.

| I pulled a 6 ft press drill with a C once on about a 6 acre job. The tractor had a wide front but still steered awful with those small tires in the soft dirt. I had fluid in the 9.5-24 tires but I still had alot of wheel slip. So If you have tight steering and extra weight it shouldn't be too bad. |

A lot depends on the drill you use. If you have access to an old rope trip drill, you will have no trouble. Here's my C with a 13 x 7 Oliver Superior drill that was made about 1948:

I have drilled with this Oliver drill using my B with the belly mower under it. Doesn't take a big tractor to pull a drill of this type

| Thanks for all the responses and help. Dick L, how did you set up your hydraulics for the model B? I have a 1947 AC Model B with 1 pump, but it does not have a remote. It looks like that Oliver has hydraulic lines. |

| That Oliver drill has two ropes. Both sides have independent lift clutches. No hydraulics! You can drill with only half of the drill. When your drilling beans starting on the outside working toward the center going around and you only have a narrow strip in the center that is less than half the width of the drill you can lift one side and save the seed. Can make a difference on a real long field. |
