i have a diesel d17 thats running rough after i tried a repair. my injecter pump is leaking around the shaft on the side so i pulled the center bolt out of the arm for the throttle and pried it loose. im not so sure that is how it was supposed to come apart. i saw a brass sleeve around the shaft and decided that it was probably worn. i then tried to put it back together. the shaft had a hex head and i thought i carefully placed it back in the same place. once together i started it and it ran terrible. unfortunately i did not start it right before. i looked it over and took it back apart tried once again to line it up but it ran the same. could i have gotten air in the systen from the leaking shaft. i need this running badly! i just had a new baby and i need to sell it. someone please help me haha! thanks!

Hopefully Dr Allis, MACK, or InjpumpEd, will see this. Seems like some of the governor linkage is in the top that you took off. Last time I had one of those pumps apart was in trade school almost 25 years ago...

I am not an IP expert by any means, but in looking at the exploded view of that pump, I don't think you can do what you did.  How much you asking for the 'ol girl, running, and current condition?

If you were really lucky you just have a pump full of air, I would crack the lines at the injectors while the engine is running until all the air is out for sure (no bubble, only strong stream), and find out.

To get that shaft out you need to remove the top then remove a clip that holds the two shafts togather which is the shutoff tab.
Nothing in that area that would cause it to run rough but the top needs to be removed and propperly reassemly befor it is started again. If the clip came off when you pulled the shaft, it could get in a wrong place causing a runaway or in gov. weights causing alot of damage.
If I was you I would get some one who knows these pumps to look at it befor it was started again.   MACK

The clip fell out of my injector pump and cracked the housing. Dont run it until u find that clip and put it back in.
