Why - early AC thru most of D series the hydraulics were low volume and wouldn't lift a wagon w a big cylinder. Charlyn had a tank pto unit that would do the deed but is a hassle to get on and off and you need the adapter plate for different tractors. I had one on one of my tractors but didn't want to tie it up for just that. Soooo - I just made a angle iron frame for the tank, a 20 inch pto shaft and bolted it to a Cat 1 drawbar. Now I can change it from one tractor to another in 5 minutes if they have 3 pt. I also have the 3pt SC set up so now I can put it on a dozen tractors easy by pulling 3 pins and a quick connect pto shaft. These tanks have both up - gravity down and two way ports for other cylinders.

The pto shaft is a little tricky - you need female on both ends and a male stub on the tank. I also bolted the lovejoy connection together to keep it all tight. Used all stuff in the project pile - cheap, easy on off and works good.

Works but as many PTO are 540 , to get the right combination pump speed and volune - pressure it will take a little figuring .

Coke - These tanks are 540 and will operate across the throttle range - just faster lift at higher RPM. High volume - low pressure. Unless I am missing something - it is just a mechanical hook up.

I've got one of those Char-Lynn PTO pumps, I'd like to see a picture of how yours is set up. Sounds like a neat idea. I bought mine to run a Shaver post driver, but haven't gotten it mounted yet.

We've got Char-Lynns on several WDs that we have a sprocket on the PTO shaft (under the belly of the tractor), and a chain to the pump that we have mounted on the frame. They work real well to run hydraulic augers on grain wagons, etc.
