Well, the picture doesn't really show much, but I'm posting it anyway because of the notation in the lower left corner. May 13, 1936, the first trainload of All Crop Harvesters arrive in Iowa. 75 years ago last Friday, if my math is correct. Wow.

   My first thought was surely they had these in Iowa before 1936, then I remembered they didn' t name them "All Crop" until 1936. From the Introduction in 1934 until early 1936 they were referred to as "Allis Chalmers High Speed Combine".

My father recalls seeing railcars full of allcrops as far as you could see at a rail siding at Livingston, Illinois. Ryan

I can remember when I was a boy seeing Allis Chalmers tractors, lots of WD's,, and combines and equipment come through Milton Wi. on the Milwaukee Road railroad in the late 40's and 50's, didn't think to much of it then but now it is nice to see those pictures you sent,,,thanks,,Wayne.

You know, that picture of the Gleaners was used in the late 50's to show economic vitality.  At the time - I had just come home from the Army Stint 1957 - the country was in a mini recession and they were publishing pictures of good economic activity to show we were still growing.
Yes, I remember the All Crops.  We used to ring our parking lot with six All Crops - that's what came on flatcars - for assembly.  Never took a picture though.  Too Bad.
I remember during WWII waiting for the High School Bus to come.  We got the riders to help us move the header onto the combine.  Remember this was the 40's.  None of the sophisticated lift equipment was available then - skip loaders, front end loaders, etc.
We did it all with something called muscle skids and levers.
