Just joined and have a couple questions, hope I'm not rehashing some old information. I have my dad's D-15 he bought new in 1964. It only has about 1700 hours on it and I think the rear tires (14.9x26) are the originals, They have good tread left, but are falling apart from weathering and age. I'm trying to find some used ones that are not worth more the the tractor and found a set of 13.6's off and old Gleaner. I see that AC put both sizes on a D-15 and just want to make sure the my wheels will work. I assume so, but have been wrong more than once before.
Also, I'd thought about trying to get a loader for it, but the guys who seem to know about loaders talk like the hydraulics on the D-15 aren't adequate. I understand I can get an add on at the PTO, but need it for other stuff.
Thanks for any and all input. Ed

If you put a loader on it, it's best to add a pump on the front driven directly from the engine. The original hyd system is driven from the pto shaft in the torque housing. It's a high pressure/low volume system compared to modern hydraulics. Every time you step on the clutch, the hyd pump stops too making loader operation not very convienient.

I have a Freeman #180 loader that was mounted on a D17 SIV that I might consider selling.
It has the larger lift cylinders meant for lower pressure (2500), and has a trip loader with snow extensions. If you're interested, reply to post.

Better to use 14:9x26 tires over the 13:6x26 tires.

I would recommend the 14.9 tires and a loader with a front mounted pump as well.

Thanks for the replies. I've got a couple loaders located locally (So. Missouri) and trying to figure out the hydraulics add on. Anybody have an idea of the expense involved and where available?
Guess I'll bite the bullet and get the 14.9's new. Best I can find is about a $1000 installed. All the used ones I have found are sandbox quality.
Thanks again.
