Well, sometimes I don't make the brightest moves. I decided a couple light taps on this
"ear" that drives the seed plates, just might unfreeze the cast iron drive gear. I was wrong.

Live and learn, the hard way.

Anyone have one they would be willing to sell me? Its for a 500 series planter, and its cast iron. Thanks!

Drill and tap it for a bolt and anchor the bolt or stud with loctite.

There are some NOS planter parts on ebay right now but not sure if your part is listed.

Have this NOS.  I think it is the only one they had of this type.  If you want to count the teeth and give me some measurements....I can compare.  # may be 326323.  Thanks...Dale

one knob should still run the plate. but then again, if it's rusty...i might bind up and break the other knob or the plate!

Thanks Gerald, thats just what I did tonight. Drilled and tapped, 1/4-20 hole, and threw red loc tite on it. Hope she holds good, seemed to. If not, I am gonna have a stud bolt throught the gear plate hit the drive gear! I might take a punch tomorrow and dimple it, so it can't unthread downward.

Thanks for the replys! As always, you guys always come through with advice and parts if we need em! Thanks!

Might be easier to braze that ear back on.

If you got a 5/16 shoulder bolt, it would have 1/4 inch threads and you could cut it to the length you want sticking up and the shoulder would bottom out, stopping it from going through any further.
