Just put new tires on the D-17 gas. None of the locking excentrics would budge. I took the bolts out and was able to beat one out and the others came off. After soaking in drain oil for two days I was able to loosen them up with 3/4 drive 3/4 6 point socket and a 4 foot cheater on a breaker bar. Both rims got two coats of paint inside and out and the new 16.9-28 firestones are on and ready to mow with the Kuhn. Does anyone have a better way, or a special mix of toxins or some tricks? I tried a 8 foot cheater on the breaker bar a few years ago and broke two of the pins. Every spring and fall I go lock to lock on all three of the other tractors but the first time is always a pain.

never seaze is awsome once you get them to move but this was an auction tractor that probly never had been adjusted in 20 years or so.

I would use a good penetrating oil instead of motor oil. After that use silicone spray.

50-50 auto trans fluid acetone mix is supposed to be one of the best penetrants you can use, or make in this case.

I just put them on top of an open vise and hammer on the end of the shaft, thenflip it over a drive it back. As soon as I'm able, I remove the C clip and drive them all the way out. I use plenty of Blaster. Bob

I read an piece in a magazine a couple of years back that tested penetrating oils and the way the test concluded was it didnt matter what brand of oil you used just as long as you use something in the penetrating line .I prefer PB blaster but thats me personal opinion.
