Yesterday I planted corn all day with my black belly power shift 7060 with no problems. When I tried to pull out of the field on a slight upslope it would not move when I released the clutch. I coasted it back into the field and removed the sheet metal from around the side column to look for disconnected rods, etc. As far as I could tell all the stuff was working in the column. I don’t know what to check next-I am no great mechanic but can do a few minor repairs. What scares me most is that when the tractor would not move it was already supposed to be in gear. The clutch seems to be real strong and I have not had any tranny problems in the couple of months I have owned it. Please help if you have any info on what to check next.

Also, how good would you rate the air conditioning for this model? It does not seem to cool well when gets sunny out. I had a 7000 and I understood that model to have a notoriously under built a/c system and wonder if the 7060 is the same. I will get it charged, just looking for opinions.

Thank you.

If I had to guess, I would say your torque limiter has failed. If you have no gears at all and no clashing in the high and lo range lever, seeing there is no clutch, it would have to be the limiter. Its possible that something happened to your inching spool, but it wouldnt be common. Just my thoughts.

If its the torque limiter you wont have any steering or hydraulics either.  Its been in the mid 80s here and I run my blower on medium and low and it keeps the cab cold. Make sure the condensor and evaporator coils are clean and it should do fine with a full charge in it. Mine still has a slow leak after Ive replaced 2 hoses.

I am guessing low oil, since you mentioned the incline, or something in the tranny valve body broke.  As for the A/C, the 7000 series sucked, I always used to put up tin foil on the top half of the side and back windows to keep the sun out, then it was faily decent.  If you rework it, you can get them cold, but not like the new ones.

Low on oil would affect it if it were aimed downhill. What gear were you trying to move it in???? If it will move in 1st gear and 6th gear and nothing in 2nd-3rd-4th-5th, you have bolts sheared off inside the transmission which requires a complete teardown to fix. Torque limiter failure would see to it you have no power steering or hydraulics to lift an implement.

Thank you everyone! To my relief I found that the pin that connected the high/low range cable to the clutch had come out. I talked with Larry from Truelove Brothers Agco in Albion, Indiana and he was pretty sure it was either a cable or a missing connector. I was really scarred because the thing would not move in any gear! Now I can plant my soybeans, if the rain will hold off.

I'll verify that everthing is clean with the A/C system and probably get it charged and have the leak detector added.

My 7020s air blows ice cold on a fresh charge.  Its still on the R12.  I was using one time in July or August to grind feed and had the air on.  By the time I was done the cab windows had condensation on them and it was like climbing into a deep freeze.

  Good luck!
