Should I expect to be able to buy a small length of tubing to use for raising my fuel inlet off the bottom of my CA's tank?  Or can you only buy that size by the roll?  Or would anyone consider dropping an inch long piece in the mail to me for the right price?

My father in law who was a tractor tech for years told me to get some sediment bowl screen and roll it up and stick down in there. Said It would not let the junk on the bottom though and you did not have 3/4 inch of gas left in the bottom of the tank either.

I had a couple hiccups in my 45one day, of course I had to be 5 miles from home at the time. I drained the tank and pulled the sediment assembly off.The inlet is the perfect size for a 1/4 " NPT tap. I cut a few threads in the top of the base and screwed a short nipple in. Reassembled it and haven't touched it since.
I do believe a place like TSC or Farm and Fleet has screens a couple inches long that have pipe threads on one end and closed on the other end.

I've also done the 1/4" pipe nipple deal, only I used brass ones with several small holes drilled in the sides.

A small tightly wound spring works as a strainer too.

Before ya'll rush out and get your 1/4" pipe tap and fittings I'm pretty sure the guys mean 1/8"

Yeah, I was actually thinking they might mean 1/16 NPT... the inlet hole in mine is 1/4", and the tap drill size for 1/16 NPT is 0.246.  Although that size might not have a large enough ID.  I'll make one or the other work if I go that route.  Thanks

Glad somebodies awake. I know I didn't drill out the hole on mine, just ran a tap in it.
