Hi Guys,
The D19 is moving again under its own power! This was the tractor that was a diesel had been taken to gas and now I made it back to a diesel.
It took parts from a 230 gas and (2) 262D's to come up with one solid 262D engine.
Thanks to Matt Scott from Jordan and Brian Jasper Co Ia for the pictures and tips they provided me along the way. Many others helped to via this website...thanks!

How coldblooded are these things? It seems it blows white smoke until it gets up to operating temperature. Is that normal?
It starts fairly well...if I hold down the preheater for a minute or so.

Brian, I couldn't agree with you more. My D17 D with the 230 budda gas sure sounds mean. I did have a 3" strait pipe on it which made it sound like the big boys. |

The Golddigger Pro is a tiling machine. Ton of tile going in in southern MN.
As far as painting it, I wasn't going to initially but now I may.

I know there isn't any farmland left in Champlin, where do you farm? I moved from Howard Lake to Champlin to Coon Rapids and now to Oak Grove.

I'm a farm kid living in the city. I am originally from near Albert Lea....2 miles out of Freeborn, MN.

My mom grew up by Albert Lea and have cousins by Glenville still farming. I wouldn't mind having my dad's old series IV 17 sitting in my yard but it got sold when he retired.

| The smoke is not normal though, I have used ours for 40 some odd years and it never "smokes" when cold, also, I never preheat unless its below 40. |

All depends on how cold it was. My 262 made smoke like that when I first got it together and it was in the 50's. Good to see you got it runnning. Mine smokes pretty good to until it is warmed up. It will smoke less and start better once the rings start to seat. Glad i could help. Matt |

Where's the turbocharger, might clear the smoke a bit. ------------- Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives. |

I put an aftermarket turbo on it (Garrett T04). According to a website, white smoke is from:
Diesel engines have difficulties in cold starting. Cold starting means low temperature intake air that is coming inside the cylinder, low temperature walls, low temperature piston head. All these are making the fuel evaporation difficult. More, the usual way to start a diesel engine is to flooded with fuel.
