Does your machine have all the appropriate drive parts on rear lift assy? Assuming it does, along with appropriate pulley on BevGear Box shaft sticking out left side, belt runs up along left side to that pulley. Depending on what drive you have [ Hydro/Var] has a slight variation. Best to get a exploded view of those rear pulley's, etc, that mount to rear hitch bar, and sort it out. Can you post a picture of the tiller mounted to your machine from rear?
I see you have a Hyd. Unit. Simplicity/Agco has a "deflector" pulley that keeps that belt from rubbing on the Hyd Filter. Brenda@ SandyLake Implement has the kit, along with copy's of what you'll need. The belt will do some serious rubbing on that filter, I had almost worn a hole thru mine!

See if this link works:   http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCyEN8bqM2rE3Cvh5kbp796Dq - http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCyEN8bqM2rE3Cvh5kbp796Dq

Go to page 6.

As pointed out above, if you have a hydrostatic unit, there's another idler pulley that mounts on the side of the tractor frame between the drive pulley and the hydrostatic filter.  That moves the belt down just under the filter.  My son bought a tiller that didn't include this pulley, but I made him one by bending some metal and mounting a pulley I bought at Fleet Farm.

PM me if you want a photo of this extra pulley and mount.

Actually, the pulley may raise the belt over the filter-----don't remember for sure.
