I got the bead broke on both rims with no problem. The first half of the tire comes off somewhat easily, but the second half is giving me problems. One I finally got off the rim but the second one is being stubborn. I have soaked the bead with soap, have tire spoons. Is there some secret to getting them off? Any help would sure be appreciated as I am getting close to paint time. ------------- Everything is impossible until someone does it! You have the bead broke on both sides of the stubborn tire? If you got it lubed up really good, it shouldn't be all that bad, as long as the opposite side of the tire bead is in the inside part of the rim. What I usually do is use the spoons on the very top and then pull the tire up with the spoon making sure that it is in the inside of the bead and then use the other spoon 4-5" over and work it over the edge of the rim, and then take one spoon out, move it on the other side of the spoon that's still behind the tire, and repeat and work it around. Do you still have the rim mounted on the tractor? For me, it's always easier to have the rim mounted to something rigid when working it off. You can do it with the rim on the ground, but it's easier if it's on the tractor. 24" tires can be a real bugger, the bigger the tire, the easier they come off. ------------- 1955 WD45 diesel 203322 was my dad's tractor, 1966 D15 23530, 1961 HD3 Crawler 1918, 1966 D17 IV 83495, 1937 WC 41255, 1962 D19 6221 |

I have the tires off the tractor. The bead is broken on both sides of the tire. I will try again tonight after work. ------------- Everything is impossible until someone does it! Mike, it sounds like you have started the project without me. Good for you!! I'm MAYBE going to go up to the farm this weekend for the first time. Ted I picked up a set of tires and tubes from Albert. Nice guy, met me in Eau Claire. Are you blocking the tire up so the opposit side your trying to get over the rim is up in the center of the rim? I use two large screwdrivers and one spoon to remove the tires. I hold the bead up with the spoon and take little bites with the screwdrivers to walk the bead over the rim. Usually after you get about half way around you can hold the tire up and push the rim thru and off the tire with your foot. I started to take some pictures of the tire removal in the fall of 08 but some how forgot to take pictures all the way thru.  A link to what pictures I did take.

Dick your pics are good but they stop at the point I am at. I have checked Gempler's but my tire is on the ground. New day- new results! I got the sucker off with little problem. Don't know if the tire fairy came today or what but it came off somewhat easy. I think the warm weather really helped along with all the suggestions. I do have an easy way to break the bead with a farm jack though! ------------- Everything is impossible until someone does it!
