The light came on today so I shut it down instantly, and after they revived me from the stroke I had, we restarted it and noticed a steady 30 psi at idle and 60 plus at high idle on the manual gauge. SO... what psi is the factory sending unit supposed to be set at? Maybe the warning light sending unit goes bad?? Anything in the system I should be looking for? Thanks for any help.

Probably should state this also.. I was not working it, only been idling for maybe ten mins, when i got back on it i noticed the light on. Had it running earlier with no issues.

Check for a place where the wire has had the insulation rubbed off, like where it goes over a steel line or through a gap in the sheet metal. I want to think that my service manual for my 7000 with a 301 says it's like a 3 or 5 psi cut-on for that switch (which means that it simply grounds the wire so you have a completed circuit through the bulb). I'm not familiar with where the sender is on a 426, but it should be somewhere on the block where the oil gallery is. The 301 has it tucked away behind the fuel filter and it's a pain to see and get to. To check the switch, see if you have an open circuit when the tractor is running (resistance is infinite between the lead on the sender and a ground).

sender on a 210/220 is at right rear of block right ahead of rear plate.

found the sender. dont have time to get into it much tonight, but Hurst I hope you are onto something. Ive had engines spin bearings etc. before and it runs and sounds fine... but, I also hope I can trust the gauge. I just changed the oil with new 15-40 maybe 10 hrs ago
