I love it, they say they don't know $h!t about tractors, but they have been told.....
http://denver.craigslist.org/grd/2323997885.html - http://denver.craigslist.org/grd/2323997885.html
The rest is comical, if everyone is telling you you are wrong, maybe you are. I am pretty sure, that no matter how cheap it ends up being, I wouldn't give a guy acting like this any amount of money for that tractor.

It is sad when the first thing that pops up when you google C Allis is tractordata.com. No excuse for such stupidity.

Ya might want to check how many sfw c's were built.

At least this time he mentioned it had a single front wheel. The guy that told him it's rare, probably never saw a single front wheeled tractor before. So did Allis put single front wheels on C all years they were built? I guess the seller never heard that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Your kind of between a rock and a hard place.
Is a C rare? No.
BUT
Single Front Wheel C, which he claims it is? Yes, I think its worth more then the 1200 he's asking, pending the condition overall.

Well well well, I did look up the SFW option, and it seems that part of what this yahoo is saying is accurate. SFW C's were only produced in '48, '49, and '50. Only 664 total were built. I do seem to remember the orriginal add did not mention the SFW option either. Doesn't matter, now, I am sorry, but there is a polite way to say what he said, and I still wouldn't buy from him.

I agree! It's his loss to not advertise what he has and then get upset when people correct him.

Does anyone want pictures of this tractor? How about better ones from the one in Sterling?
Of course, every time I go to Farmer John's I see one too... lol!

A classic example of "a picture is worth a thousand words. A simple picture might have sold it a long time ago. All though if all these tractor clubs and collectors looked at it and did not by it, a buyer might be leery.

That ad was just kinda rude and if he is right about the single front wheel numbers and years then he needs to be more specific about what he is trying to explain rather[as my high school English teacher would say] than appearing a ill mannered dolt. And as a man of principal I would not take that tractor if he offered to haul it to my house for me.

I've got 4 single front wheel C's.....could have had at least 8. I'd bet 90% made went to CO, CA, OR, ID and WA

Where are you located? Are you suggesting going to look at them? The one in sterling has me interested, but I hate providing best offer over the internet, just tell me what you want, and I will offer or politely walk away, I don't need to outbid myself if the next lowest bid is 400 bucks lower. I can't tell if it's a B C or CA? My best guess is a C, based on the steering arm, and the distributor, but pics are too blurry

Yeh I assumed it was just a standard tricycle when I first read it. If they had put single front wheel in the ad it would have been gone first day. But you can't tell anyone like that anything.

Orange Blood - I'm on the north side of Denver about 3 miles from US76. I thought I saw the bosses on the front of that tractor in Sterling, which would make it a CA, but I wouldn't mind getting a better look.

Sterling isn't really on the way to Kansas unless you take a hundred mile detour. I think Eldon must be right because I have seen at least a dozen single wheels in the last 50 years. The one I have now had some engine problems as it sat out 30 years with no muffler. Only one piston/liner was bad but Miles used the good part of the head and the manifold is hoely scrap. The parts tractor has the standard two wheel NF. We had one in the late '50's until the early 1970's when I sold it to pay for a CA, which I still own. Orange, it's strange that I check the Denver CL at least once a day and the tractor you posted didn't come up either with allis or tractor.

Who is going to KS, via Sterling?
I don't understand CL, I have the same issue, one day a new tractor will show up that was posted a week ago, don't get it. Someone else bought a tractor, maybe you, right west of me, never saw it, but it was under Allis I was told.

Yes, the guy was a bit strange in his marketing pitch --- but, if I was in the Denver, Boulder, Loveland, Ft. Collins area it sure might be worth a little trip to check it out and enjoy the scenery. Hate to pass up a potentially nice tractor just because -----

I don't think it has been relisted in some time. I may call if I have time, (call between 9 and 5). Golden's only 20 miles away but this time of year it may as well be 2000. Only reason I'm on here is I'm also on a state Farmers Market Assoc. conference call. (and not really paying attention!

The price doesn't sound bad, but someone else's comment on "Ill mannered dolt", seems to fit...

The rain finally seems to be holding off here. Drove the D17D around the yard for the first time in a year and a half. Sure sounds sweet. I even got the sticking spots out of the P/S...

I find the time to drive 115 miles to look at (and buy) a grain drill (not Allis) but can't find the time to drive 20 to look at a tractor. I must be getting practical in my old age!

I am selling this tractor due to a death. I know very little about it or tractors in general!
I've had it looked at by two collectors and a local tractor club
I've been told It's a Model C. Built two years from 1948 to 1950
They built thousands of model C with dual front wheels
This one has a single front wheel and they only built around 640
THATS what Ive Been Told. Again I dont know!!!!!
If interested call M-F 9;00 to 5;00 Ask for Ken 303-279-4408 NO E MAILS!!!!!!!!!

Looks like he had a little change in tone. If I was closer I would just maybe mozy on over and look. Someone probably needs to go by just to make him feel better. That would pay for the hard time we gave him on here.
