Great idea, but what if the weed looks like the vegetable?  I assume it uses optics of some kind?

I see it works well in a nice weed free field.  What happens when the camera lens gets dirty?

Wonder if you can program it to take out beets? (yuck), Darrel

It is really cool, but even with $1500 gold, it will probably cost nearly a pound.
Back in the late '60's there were some automatic sugarbeet thinner/weeders, just used distance and a pneumatic powered blade swinging back.  Never saw them work but they went for scrap prices in the last 20 years as planters got more accurate.

Darrel you just have to fix them right....we have converted many people to eating beets and it now is a very good crop for us. We grow red, white, golden and striped beets. We steam them, peel and saute with onion and garlic in olive oil.....mmmmmmmmmm!

I knew it wouldn't take long to get a response out of you on that comment. You'll have to fix me up some if I get out there sometime. Hopefully when the big show is out there at Lynden, WA in what year is that, 12 or13? Darrel
