Well, did some more on the picker today.
Got the undercarriage in the shop, and started on it. Greased what I could, took me a good hour. Dad and I are working on the hydraulics. The cylinder will not go in, even after bleeding it. I think something is out of adjustment, the lever on the throttle plate wont move the cylinders either. We are using a come-along to the frame of the tractor to put weight on it, still wont budge.

Thanks for the encouragement.
Its been a looong project, but I am happy with what we have done so far.
I hope this brings back memories for people that used these corn pickers, or any other corn pickers. I am going to try and get it to a couple local shows this summer.
Talking with grandpa last night, I commented on how long it took to grease this thing. He told me his dad used to have a New Idea one row picker, and that seemed to take awhile to grease also. He always greased it well before each day of using it, and even left the grease gun in the fence row to grease the picker at noon.
I am not sure just what it is about corn pickers, but I think they are dang cool. Nothing like a chilly fall evening, on a tractor, pickin corn, with a plaid insulated coat, and the sun going down.

I intercepted a picker that was headed for the scrap yard last year. i also have a WD with a tight motor that i got for $175 a few years ago just haven't even had time to look at but what i realy need first is a place to put it all in before it rusts apart. It looks like my project is a few years away.
