I'm going to go along with Calvin on the 4W 305. That's just todays dream tractor, though, tomorrow may be something different. The one and only D 21 factory FWA would be towards the top of the list most days, too. Darrel

Sorry to say, but if I could only have one dream tractor, it would be a White 4-150.  I was not only the project engineer for it, but it would take me back to my youth!!  My wife was also very pregnant with our first child when the first one came off the production line.  Many good memories.

After that, comes an 8070 FWA with power shift and a 4W-305.

A little more reasonable would be an IH Super C with the fast hitch.  The first serious, all-day field work I did was cultivating with one.

I like the looks of the early White tractors too. Probably because I remember when we first started camping at the Ia St Fair, they used Whites to pull the shuttles.
You probably at least knew who Herb Morrell was being at White. I have his book on Oliver and I'll bet if he were still living, he would have some interesting stories to tell.

Here's the 30-60. I did a lot of work on that before my accident. I think the engine will be back together this fall. It was driven in the shop but the boss had us start fixin' things and 1 thing lead to another. It was eventually completely disassembled.

I think my friend Ron Miller might have one of the Rumley F's. He has 11 different models of  Rumleys. I doubt either one of these could be bought though.

Too many to list them all. Styled & unstyled WF's to complete my W collection. Series III D17 to complete my D17 collection. Lots more ACs, then there are quite a few other colors. But I'd realy love a new DT275 AGCO or at least a DT180 with all the bells & whisles.

In terms of AC. I would like to have a WC with a diesel engine in it because I love diesel engines and a diesel WC would probably be one of a kind. Now in terms of other tractors I would say an Oliver 1950 with the 4-53 Detroit.

my grandads 1953 john deere 40t, it came home the same week i did, and i grew up on it, the only complete restorration that i ever did to a tractor, i had it looking good with the cultivators and two row side dressers,

it was in the old barn here at home in the fall of 08, when the barn burnt, while i did not bawl, over its loss i did shed a tear when i saw it, all those memories of my grandfather teaching me to drive and work, are only in my memory now, up till then i had something tangible i could set on and know that he had spent many a day there also

ky wonder,

I'm sorry for your loss. I have my Dads WD45 that is the tractor I learned to drive on, I also restored it for him. I would hate to see it burned.

Did you get to keep it? From the picture it looked like it could have been rebuilt again although it wouldn't be cheap.

Sorry for that loss, I know the feeling, if at all possible, whatever you do, don't let her go!

You may yet have a chance to put her back together, and think of that story, and the smiles that come with it.

I have a second change to fix up a tractor my great grandfather sold new at his dealership, I won't let it go again.  I dought I would ever have that chance again, since Allis is all but dead in our area, and all the tractors he sold, are scattered, or melted, or in a fence row, I don't know about.

i pickeled the tractor after the fire with all intentions of someday trying to restore it, but after 8 months of watching it, i finally sold it to get the heartbreaking sight off the place, i know that i had just overhauled it and bored it out 100,000ths, and but it back together with mailto:m@w - m@w  pistons and it would run with a set of 2x14s hooked to it.

i have seen other 40's that where in just as nice condition that i could have bought reasonbaly, but they where not that tractor, grandaddy above all was a realist, so i know he would understand, for the last parts of his life the tractor was only used to plow tobacco and power elevators

but i do miss it, its kinda like my wife i would not take anything for her, but would not give a dime for a truck load just like her.
