what is your intended use? Personally I think they are great tractors. Tractor will be used for everything ,work ground,plow ,cut and bale hay.Am looking to get cab and air and get out of the sun, |

Lars is incorrect. The small lift cylinder is a helper cylinder that works in addition to the main one in the rear housing. This was one of the differences between the 6060 and 6080. Personally I find the 3 ph on mine to be quite rugged and never had any problems lifting anything. | Just make sure it has the external bearing and plate mounted on the front of the engine on the crank shaft pulley. If it has that it should be ok but if not you probably don't want that one unless it is mighty cheap. |

I was thinking the latest 6080's didn't need the external bearing. They had the heavier internal bearing. The external bearing fix was a stop gap until the redesign. | I think the orange bible (Norm's book) makes note of a 6080 serial number break for turning radius chnages and engine updates which I assume includes the thurst bearing. I am just guessing that the 6060 never received the updates as it was replaced by the 6070 by that time? Mike |

Our neighbor has one and they say it is the worst AC tractor they have ever owned. It has had major engine and transmission problems numerous times and is pretty light according to them. They stated that they wished they had kept their 185 because it was more reliable. All the tractor has ever done is plant , feed and hay work and never done any heavy tillage ect. |

Dad and I have one, it's got 7000 hours on it and it's one of our favorites. That 200 industrial engine in my opinion is one of the best engines Allis built. I am in the middle of putting a clutch in it but i think 7000 hours on a clutch is not out of line. I think it is a little light for heavy tillage but it's great in the hay field and i know a guy that pulls a 21' 490 IH disk with one and has for years. KY, what kind of maintenance does your neighbor do on his equipment and what do the rest of his tractors look like? |
