This is a bit of a loaded question, but I found a nice 4-14 semi-mounted AC plow near us.  I know the D17 IV will walk away with a 3 bottom under most conditions.  I wonder if it would handle a 4 bottom, 14 inch set?  The ground it will be plowing is fairly heavy soil, typical of central NY, with some rocks.  The land would be moderately hilly but not extreme.  I don't know the model # of the plow, but it is 3 point with spring breakaways, with a trail wheel and hydraulic lift.

It seems like these might be a little too much plow for the D17, but was wondering if anyone has experience with similar sized plows on this type of ground.

D17 was designed to pull 4. A wd45 will pull 4 in most conditions.

I have pulled a 4 bottom semi mounted with my D17 IV. No real problems other than it will use a lot of gas.

Dad worked for a guy that pulled 4-16's in heavy soil with clay noles.  Had a dual on the land side and pulled in it 3rd low.

Depends on the soil, but mine plays with a 4 - 14 snap coupler most of the time.

We plowed with a couple D-17's back on our farm when I was younger. We pulled a 4 btm 16" snap coupler plow and some 3 btm SC plows. Our 59 D-17 pulled the 4 btm. a lot better than the 63 D-17 for some reason.Soil, tires, weight and speed all come into play.I am sure any D-17 will pull a 4 btm ,how fast is the question.
