I used to ride in a Gleaner L series and I remember him doing something while combineing wheat called "quilting" but, i do not for the life of me remember how it was done or why? All I remember is every so many feet he would turn directly into the wheat and back out again. Anyone know what this was?

AC WD45.

I asked my wife because she does a lot of quilting, may not be the same but she said it's called back stiching, she said that she didn't know why you would do it combineing wheat like that way
