D21 shaft is splined and won't fit a 180 pump. You need the later (short) shaft which is from engines that the inj pump bolts directly to the front plate instead of an adapter that bolts to the front plate  first, then the inj pump onto it. There's probably 1/2 inch difference in length.

Once again you,re right on it  Dr. A ;    just wondering if the drive gear is the same and if I can get by with just a new short shaft ????

Is your pump seized? Dont just stick a new shaft in it thinking it just broke. I have the correct one you need from a 200 pump . I would take your 16444 on trade if you pay the ride for both. I can supply gear as well if you need one. thanks, Ed.
