My 8070 has an issue with the tach, it works fine then it quits and then starts again. Any idea where to start?

I had the same thing on my 8050 and it finally quit all together. i had to put a new sensor in it, agco is crazy on price but i got a isspro and it works fine, its just a generic magnetic two wire pickup. ill look to see if i can find the part number , sounds like its your problem....Jb

My 8070 has the same problem at times. Some days will work all day and on some occasions will quit--hr meter too. It has never failed to work all together though. Add about 10 hrs to every 100 hr oil change.

I sent that info to Randy,Thats the sensor that i used.do your self a favor and measure the depth when you put the new sensor in, the new one will have threads the whole lenth, you just dont want to put it in too deep to where it hits the flywheel.it has two wires and doesnt matter what way its wired . i think the sensor i bought was somewhere around $80 wich sure beets $225 from agco....Jb (edit) i just looked on the isspro site and it sells for $69...cant beet that...Jb

On my semi those sensors read off the outer dia of teeth. You just screw in till touching and back out 1/2-3/4 turn.8070 reads off front edge of teeth so would have to account for crank end play.Try prying crank fwd through hole in torque housing then set sensor 1/2 turn backed out?
