Also check blinker fluid as that may be getting low.
Muffler bearings also need checking and may need grease.
When is the last time you trimmed the wicks on headlights.

Your just lucky your working on good ole American electrics. You ought to try finding Lucas electrical system smoke... seems to seep out of my old Norton's electrical parts and then nothing works after it does. Darn hard to put it back in if you can find it.

I know diesel exhaust fluid is legitimate, but it seems like it should fit in this conversation someplace.
Muffler belts don't seem to stand up to the heat of these newer engines, either. They must run a lot hotter than the first muffler belt equipped units.

After you get you lights functioning properly, you should change the air in your tires every six months. Bill
|
Posted By: Steve M
Date Posted: 06 Apr 2011 at 8:49am
And if your changing the air in you tires remember that metric tires take metric air. Might have to go out and buy a metric air compressor to get that job done or I suppose you could buy a converter to convert standard air to metric.
And by the way is it still ametric tire if mounted on a 15" rim?
I went to sears and told the salesman I was in the need of some metric sockets and asked if I wanted 3/8" drive or 1/2" drive. Whats up with that?

Well since it's a sports car and you have to refill those tires anyway why not substitute genuine Kansas sailboat fuel instead of plain summer air.
I hear it works great, really improves your tires performance and it's even better than the stuff with the green valve caps!

In the next federal budget, the dems are subsidizing LED fluid, should bring the price down to a reasonable level for those of use wishing to convert from incandesant fluid.

This is for the inquireing minds that want's to know, where you would get headlight fluid--which would be out of your kitchen sink spigot.
The conventional process of producing acetylene in a headlight involves putting the calcium carbide in the lower chamber (the generator). The upper reservoir is then filled with water. A threaded valve or other mechanism is used to control the rate at which the water is allowed to drip onto the chamber containing the calcium carbide. By controlling the rate of water flow, the production of acetylene gas is controlled. This, in turn, controls the flow rate of the gas and the size of the flame at the burner, (and thus the amount of light it produces).
This type of lamp generally has a reflector behind the flame to help project the light forward. An acetylene gas powered lamp produces a surprisingly bright, broad light. Many cavers prefer this type of unfocused light as it improves peripheral vision in the complete dark. The reaction of carbide with water produces a fair amount of heat independent of the flame. In cold caves, carbide lamp users can use this heat to help stave off hypothermia.
When all of the carbide in a lamp has been reacted, the carbide chamber contains a wet paste of slaked lime ( /wiki/Calcium_hydroxide - calcium hydroxide ). This is emptied into a waste bag and the chamber can be refilled. The residue is basic and toxic to animals so should not be deposited in locations where animals may consume it. However, over time the hydroxide will react with atmospheric /wiki/Carbon_dioxide - carbon dioxide to form /wiki/Calcium_carbonate - calcium carbonate , which is non-toxic.
Small carbide lamps called "carbide candles" are used for blackening rifle sights to reduce glare. These "candles" are used due to the sooty flame produced.

I'm surprised that any one is using regular headlight fluid any more! Most have converted to mousemilk......cheaper and lasts longer! works in many other applications as well. Must be imported however, no domestic production as we do not have the technology to milk such itty bitty teets, and, as you might guess PETA holds a lot of clout in the states.

I cannot believe everyone forgot the magic smoke, if you let it out of the electronics you have to replace them as there is just no aftermarket smoke packers to buy to put it back in!! The manufacturers have cornered the market on the smoke packers to begin with then you add all those fools foolish enough to try to adjust their black boxes only to let the magic smoke out trying to buy any smoke packers available and there you have the conundrum.
|

Mousemilk is now obsolete. You remove the wiggle pin and replace it with a wobble screw which allows the headlight to operate without headlight fluid or mousemilk. You can by some accounts make the conversion economically which is possibly the most important reason for the conversion. According to off the wall wild speculation the conversion process is detailed in headlight fluid replacement literature.
