My old CA has developed several pin holes in the bottom of the gas tank and I would like to know who does tank restorations. Can anyone here help me with this information?

You can do them yourself if you want to. What I do is just get a quart of Northern Tank Liner from an automotive store. What you have to do is flush the tank with a quart of M.E.K. and you may want to mix in some hardware to loosen up the rust inside the tank. Once you flush the tank of the M.E.K. and hardware, you then take another quart of M.E.K. to make sure it is clean. Once flushed and dried you then plug the hole in the bottom, and then dump in the liner. You got to get it even coated on the inside, and you can see what you are doing through gas cap hole, just be careful of the vapors. Once completely covered you remove the plug in the bottom and drain the remaining liner back into the can. You can also recoat it once it is completely dry, but not necessary. Just be sure not to fill with gas until completely dry.

Thanks HagarAC, but what my tank has several holes in the bottom of the tank that range from pin holes to about 1/8th inch in diameter. It's these holes that I am most concerned about. wouldn't these holes be to large to get pluged with the liner material?
So you use MEK to eat away the rust? I haven't used that stuff in years. Not even sure where to find it anymore.

Post on the classifieds for a good used tank. Trying to fix 1/8" holes in that tank with sealer, or even paying a welder to fix it (if you can find someone) is dumping good money after bad, IMHO. Used CA tanks don't break the piggy bank.

I taught my self how to do Leading like in the old "Lead Sled" custom car body work days, I have fixed several Gas tanks and other tinwork damage in this way, Got the Vidio and materials from EastWood auto & body work catalog. After sealing large and small pin holes then seal inside with a good tank sealer. Have a '37 model C Case, 2 '40s era WC Allises and a '35 JD B all with pin holes up to 1/4" or 3/8" that are all holding well after 5 to 7 years.

I used J.B. Weld on a couple of larger holes in my CA tank then used Red Kote to seal the inside. Seems to have worked fine. I used a phillips head screw driver to ream the rust out of the hole so the J B had solid metal to adhere to.

I've repaired dozens of lawntractor gas tanks,cars and 'real' tractors using solder. Clean the tank real well,get the metal bright and shiny.I use a 250Watt, 1 " chisel tipped iron that was my dad's.Makes a great permanent repair.Heard horroe stories about tank coating coming off if tank not prepped really really good !
