A co-worker just bought a 200 allis at a auction. the pto engages/ makes noise but don't turn. The way he described it it may be a 540 / 1000 rpm set up. What can I tell him it might be wrong with it.??

Well if it has the 2 speed, and the bolts were installed improperly, you would have some interesting sounds for sure.  The sound of money going away fast.

Heres a thought, on some of the 190's there was a manual engaging lever down under the plat form on the left side that hooked to a coupler in the trans. maybe it maynot be ingaged completely, couldn't say if the 200's had that? I don't know why they had that when they was hyd. PTO, I think Just something to check. I'am sure that someone knows.
Good luck

Some of the later 200s didn't have a lever on outside. If the couppler slid forward you can pull the PD valve and plate off and slide the couppler back.
If the PTO turns free by hand the couppler is disconnected. If there is some drag on it you could have a PTO clutch problem.   MACK
