Annual report just arrived.  Looked everywhere in it and didn't see a Gleaner anywhere.  That's more bad news.  This is what happened about a year before the ax went to the orange tractor (no pictures or references to orange tractors).  Also, be sure to vote "NO" to re-electing Crain and company.  Going orange is going great!

Gleaner is a huge money maker, so I can't see AGCO dropping the brand. but I have been wrong before!

I used to be a share holder.   I think they just buy pretty stock pictures some years. In 1997's report there is a Fendt on the cover, which is fine, they had just bought the company, but inside is a US farm scene, I'm guessing in the Northeast that has a Cat D6 in the field, a JD something tractor near the house and a red tractor, can't tell the brand behind a pickup.  In the next 3 years of reports there are few if any pictures of AGCO brand tractors or Gleaner Combines, mostly Massey, Fendt and Hesston.  And this was when Mr Ratliff was in charge.  I truly believe they want to become a one brand company (MF) but can't afford to lose the brand loyalty of Fendt and Valtra in Europe.  Only time will tell of course.  It seems like the only company really promoting their machines in farm magazines anymore is JD.  Marketing always has been their strong point.

Just another thought.
If AGCO would have been honest back a few years ago and said,"Look, we just can't support all the brands and colors we have acquired over the years so here's what we want to do, we will build and sell the best machines we can, using the best features of all our brands but they will be called AGCO and painted in your choice of colors when you order one from the factory, otherwise they will be red."
At least we would know what their strategy was, (until they change in midstream).

Gleaner may not be pictured in the AGCO annual report but there is a story about Kevin Bien who made the Gleaner Super Series program happen.
