Hey guy's, I know this has been discussed before but Oreilly here in Tacoma is selling Hydraulic oil for 29.99 for 5 gal bucket and was thinking of picking up a few buckets.  The problem is I don't know which to buy.  They are selling AW46, AW32 and 303.  Which is the best for a 1950 WD and 1955 WD45?  I appreciate the answers/opinions in advance.

Thanks
Leonard

I think you are looking at hydraulic oil. What people use in tractor transmissions and hydraulic systems is a Universal transdraulic fluid or Hytran. It would probably have different additives in it than straight hydraulic oil. Somebody that works in the industry might be able to tell you more.

I think 303 is what you're wanting. Look on the label. If it says it meets Allis Chalmers 821 you should be good to go.

I thought if say on the WD the hyd oil is just for hyd and not tranny then the cheaper hyd oil is ok?

Some of the 5 gallon buckets were on sale at the AGCO dealer.  We asked them if it was good enough to use.  The parts men looked around a little and said, well, we sell it, but we also so parts.  We have had problems with a 210 when we switched oil brands without changing everything.  For some reason the two oils (which were both supposed to be 821 compatible) did NOT like one another.  Had to flush the system, put in all new oil, and change filters before the hydraulics would work right again.
