Last winter i built a motor for my wc puller that i thought would be a good puller. I put a wd45 crank in a wc block with 41/8 flat top pistons and a taylor ground cam. Also put a wd45 head on it with the 45 manifold and polished and drilled out the jet in the 45 carb. I put a set of 14.9 x 28 deep cleet tires on the old girl but i think the tires r to big or the clutch is slipping. I have a new clutch and 9 spring pressure plate i was going to add on to her. I was wondering if i can get some input back from u guys on any other ideas.

Iwas told that a new / rebuilt 9 spring and button pad disk is good for 80 hp. Mine don't slip at 55hp.

when i put the motor back together the clutch had somehow been put outside by my 2 young sons. I did not now that they were playing with it when we were working in the shop.I found the clutch outside after snow had melted away. An old tractor guy said it would be fine.I put it on the dyno in the spring had 35 hp when we started out kept playing with for a while and we had reached 45 hp so i think it is the clutch? but my father-in-law put the front of the tractor against a tree and back tires on stone driveway and he said tires never stopped turning so i dont now if it is the clutch or tires i am thinking the clutch. I know that the motor i built should put out more than 45 hp hope that that tells you a little more on what it is doing.

not really . the only way i know wither the clutch slips is to pull something  in either third or high gear.  Clutch is the only thing on a wc that could effect the pto . from what you posted as upgrades ten hp isnt bad especially if you didnt do anything to up the compression or get better airflow from the head intake ports themself.

when we dynoed it the pto would barely go around so i was thinking clutch. what would  happen if i put a combine governor spring in and take out wc spring. will that work with barney taylors ground cam?

i was thinking that the tires cant be to big i mean 14.9 x 28 are on wd tractors so they should work on a wc

If you used flat top wd pistons on a 45 crank and didn't cut the tops off or use 112 octain fuel you will loose hp.
If clutch is slipping on dino you would know it.   MACK
