unstyled WC vs F20 and early unstyled A Deere? Rubber tires, first with calcium chloride filled tires for better weight and stability, high tensile steel, quick attach equipment, economy, affordability when new, speed, simplicity, snap and power, running belt equipment and PTO equipment, checking the oil with a dipstick and not stupid valves. All advantages that go to the Allis WC. | I fember When we replaced grandpas F20 with a styled WC. he was very happy. Its was an old but well cared for WC the local dealer got for trade, dad was able to get it cheep. the dealer deliverer and hauled the F20 to the scrapyard for free. that WC was still being used every day at the saw mill till grandpa died in 1986. |

Lonn, You are right when you compare an F-20 to a WC. I fully concur with all you have stated. That said, I still have a very strong feeling for the F-20. Without a live PTO it was a teriffic tractor to pull a 60 All Crop. Why? They were so slow that the combine worked better. Also, for some reason I feel the classic Farmall was the F-20. Now, if you go against the F-30 all bets are off.

Gotta be the WC. My first tractor was a 1940 A and it only had 2 gears forward with a high low. The high side of 2nd was like 3rd in the WC. No road gear and not as pretty to look at.

The WC definitely has them all beat on road speed and I like being able to check oil and not pour it out on the ground. I have a 38 F-20 that will out pull my 38 WC on solid ground due to the shear weight but the WC will walk on water compared to the F-20 in wet ground. Also the WC is much more nimble than the big cumbersome F-20.

I no longer own this tractor, but it was fun while I had it. Regardless of the temperature, on the third crank it was off and running. Hated to sell it, but just too many things.
