Try a 3 in 1 type of oil, theres also a lubricant in the Navy we use, its called Fluid Film , its Lanolin based, so salt water doesnt eat at our outboards under the cowling on the RHIB boats. Works pretty good IMHO. -'48-

I sprayed a can of 'RustCheck' on the gleaner when I got it last fall. All steel looks very nice.It has to stay outside, snif, sniff, in the rain and snow.....
Can was about $8 CDN.

I am a firm believer in POR 15. Once its on, its there to stay. I have done 3 truck frames, a encolsed trailer frame, and a couple of implements. Theres only a few drawbacks. If the part you paint is exposed to the sun it will discolor but won't hurt the paint other then that. If you get it on somthing you don't want it on its extremely hard to get off. It also requires that you scuff it up pretty good (its not like scuffing regular paint) if you want to topcoat it with another color. I never seen a paint so tough. Plus, the only prep you have to do to a rusty frame or any rusty metal is knock the scale off with a needle gun or grinder, wash it with degreaser and paint it. The stuff is amazing.
