What works best for timing with the electronic ignition conversions. The AC manual says to use the tDC mark on flywheel to static time when points just open. What works best for electronic ignition? Can one use a timing light aimed at the flywheel marks at idle?

Timing light should fire on the F mark at high idle.

I time mine by ear from advice from an old well respected AC mechanic.  Open the throttle to full open and allow to run for about 10 seconds. Snap the throttle shut and you should get one fairly loud and one soft pop from the exhaust.  That works on distributor type ignitions, but not on magnetoes.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.
