Pulled the distributor drive off last night and my governor weights have been completely destroyed.  I have found most all of the pieces in the governor cover and laying next to the cam gear without taking the front cover off.  My question is if I think I have found all the pieces of the weights is it necessary to pull the front cover off and the oil pan?  I have one more small piece I see laying behind the cam gear that if I can't get out I may have to take the front cover off but would really rather not remove the oil pan.  I have taken the pan off this tractor once and it was quite a job getting it back together without leaking.  Cam gear and everything seems to be ok after it chewed up the weights.  Just wanted some good advice on potential problems by doing it this way before i actually decided what to do.  Thanks

Britt, the choice is yours but it only takes 1 piece to destroy all of the timing gears. I had the weights go throught the gears on my series 1 and it took 10 teeth off the govenor gear, 6 off the timing gear, and chewed the crankshaft gear to the point that it would have been noisy. The parts to put it back together cost about $700. The pan isn't that hard to deal with if you pull the front end. Just block under the torque tube and roll it out and you have a clear shot at the timing cover and the pan. Personally I would take the time to make sure.
