These new tractors are the best thing going!! But they are very complex with all their computer stuff they have. The older ones were much easier to work on for the average man with a shop manual. My question is we all have our old tractors we love that are 50++ years old, but how many of these new ones will the average collector in future years be able to even work on?? Its no longer a engine rebuild or a simple clutch.

its alot like the auto industry, i bought a 1962 ford galaxie that had sat in a garage for 24 years . the gas had all evaporated so i put gas in a battery and primed the fuel and oil systems and its running . the new stuff will never last like that the computers wont stand the test of time like the old parts. too long of a time with out a fully charged battery and the ecm,pcm or body control modules will need to be flashed by the manufacturer. good luck getting that done by the dealer in 48 years... i expect the farm and construction equipment to have the same outcome ...jmo...Jb

I'm thinking the next 100 years of tractor restorations will be very limited.

i agree, its unfortunate but if we keep all the old ones going and keep buying parts they should keep making them for us. i personaly will get on my old wc to rake hay rather than my 185. just cant beat something made in america when america was a producer and there was pride in making a good product, and quality came before quantity and the paycheck. too bad those days are long gone....Jb

I'm thinking in terms of the next generation of tractor restorers. We have it pretty easy compared to what they will face during a restoration!!!

By that time every garage will have it's own robot. Our old tractors will be outlawed by the EPA and That pathetic slick bastard Al Gore and his tree hugging....I dare not go any further for fear of being banned. I fear in the years to come any of this "New and improved junk" will even be worth the time to restore. It's no longer about "Quality Parts and Service" its now about "Cheap parts and flashy suits". It's no longer about the "Family Farm" it's now BUSINESS BUSINESS BUSINESS MONEY MONEY MONEY!!! Years ago you could raise a family of 8 on a farm of 100 acres. Now it costs more to farm than you get back. Sorry for my rant guys. I't been building up and I finally found the opportunity to let it out.

...you aint kiddin the small guy now a days has no shot... a person couldn;t start a farn from scratch now adays if they wanted to.. its a shame its just a mess the whole big or go home is what has ruined this country... the small buisness and small farm has gotten destroyed for all your wal-marts and 1,000 cow dairy factories its not even farming people who own farms don't even have anything to do with it most times.. just hire cheap labor... as for the tractors of today they are junk and will never last like the old allis , farmalls and deeres or any of them... its just a shame what has been scraped or forgotten over the years for todays nonsense
