Darrell - I know Harbor Freight has them!  Not sure if you are a HF person or not.

I bought one of the larger Needle Scalers from HF a few years ago when rebuilding the D17 S4
It worked much better than I thought it would, and made the paint removal a (relatively) easy task.  Got into very tight corners.
They didnt have the smaller version then.

Make sure you use eye and ear protection!

I have used the HF scaler and found it to be a good unit. I bought mine when they had a sale on them. It works best for me on cast iron and steel. Works but kinda slow on sheet metal.

I have a HF and it works just as good as the high dollar ones.

ask the parts store if they carry chicago pneumatic (CP).    The part number is CP-7120.  There are also generics out there.  Sears should carry them as well.

Friend of mine picked up a small one from HF for around $25 and it works just fine.

It is a paint chipper. It is an air powered tool, kinda like an air chisel, but, instead of a bit, it has a whole bunch of individual needles that operate individually

How the dickens have you and the boys restored those tractors without one is what I want to know??? We have gone through a few of them and all of them we have owned from $150 units down to $20 HF cheapos  beat themselves to bits in seemingly short order. We keep a couple HF cheapo scalers in stock now and give them a heave when they become a problem, seems like we are bette roff than when we were trying to keep the $150 I-R going.

Butch, I usually have sand blasted most of the cast iron parts, however its a costly and dirty job, so I thought with a new shop, warm and dry, I would try something different

I have had a HF one and used for several years, on my second set of needles but still working good.

I bought a HF needle scalier a couple months ago to clean up the inside of some wheels, did a great job.  I kind of avoid anything HF sells that has an electric motor but the quality does seem to be improving quite a bit.  Don't buy the cheapo vice grips tho, bad investment!

Also works very well at removing rust and sl*g for welding.
