Bought a D21 series II last week that hasn't ran in 5-6 years.  Got it running and added about 6 gallons of hyd. oil to it, cleaned out the sediment bowls, and trailered it home.  I've been playing around with it and warmed it up good today to change the engine oil;  well, I pulled the plug and out came about 6-7 gallons of real thin oil.  This might explain why it was smoking so much.  I was concerned it might be coolant because it was white-gray diesel exhaust, but the coolant leval dosn't go down. Where are all the possible places hyd. oil could be entering the engine oil?  Does the D-21 have a dry clutch?

If it is hydraulic oil, it is coming from hyd. pump front seal.
Does it smell like diesel fuel? Would rather thinl it is diesel fuel coming from inj. pump front seal.    MACK

It does not smell like diesel fuel, the seal on the hyd. oil pump must be the problem.  I guess thats the only place the hyd could be leaking to the engine?  Thanks Mack
