Got a copy of Norm Swinford's book Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment 1914-1985? If you don't, I highly recommend getting one for all the little details. The series 4 diesel, many would probably agree, is the most collectible D17. PTO hp is going to be about 55hp. Details are not available as to how many were diesel, gas, or LP models. Serial #'s for series 4 start at 75001 and end at 89213. I should add series 4 was built between 1964 and 1967.

The other fact to consider is not all Series 4's had 3 point. I have seen several with snap coupler.

2877 D17D's made from 64 through 67. Series IV's came out in mid summer of 64, which had 915 diesels built that year. Some of those would have been Series III's so something less than 2877 Series IV's. According to Swinfords book.
