Did the unstyled WC have any Allis chalmers on it other than on the back of the gas tank? Did it say "WC" on it anywhere? What colors were the wheels? Also, how many shades of orange were there? I thought there was po1, po2, and corp orange. Where did the colors break? Thanks for any help, JM.

I think they had the AC diamond on the tank and Allis Chalmers on the frame rail. As far as I know, they never had WC on them anywhere. PO 1 was into the 60's, PO2 started somwhere in the D series, and corperate was with the 8000 I think.

The first orange was Persian Orange, it started sometime in 1929, that color was used until mid-1960 when Persian Orange 2 came out, that was used until 1977 when Corporate Orange came out and was used until the end in 1985.
You are lucky with the WC - styled or unstyled they were all the original Persian Orange. The WC was built from 1933 to 1948 so no other orange had ever been mixed in the factory yet.
The unstyled had "Allis Chalmers" on the frame rail, the styled had it on the hood. The WC decal was never used, the only place it said WC was stamped in front of the serial number. If your decal kit comes with a WC it would look better on your toolbox in the shop than on the tractor. The unstyled had the diamond logo on the back of the fuel tank, others can comment on any other decals the unstyled had, I don't think there were too many.

Persian Orange or what people call PO 1 is the correct color. PPG60080 is an accepted duplicate of the color. There never was a WC decal and the Diamond logo was centered on the back of the gas tank. I have a picture of a 1933 Waukeshaw WC with a Diamond logo on the side of the radiator but I doubt that was used on later models. At least I have never seen a later model like that.
There has been some debate about wheel colors. Some paint them black. I believe, if the tractor came from the factory with the wheels on it, they were Orange. French and Hecht painted their product black. If a dealer put round spoked wheels on a tractor that came with steel wheels they may have been left black when the tractor was sold. Some very early WC's may have had their wheels painted the old green color as there are a few out there with that color on them.

So where exactly was the break from po 2 to corporate orange. Was it between the 7000 and 8000 series or earlier between the maroon and black bellies?

Page 106 (paperback) of Swinfords "A Guide to Allis Chalmers Farm Tractors" gives the paint breakdown. 1978 was the start of CO, the 175/185 were as was some of the 7000 series (also the switch to black bellies). The switch from PO to PO2 was also a SN switch in the D line, the 17 series 2 was the first PO2, for example.
