Can anyone tell me if this is a factory mount for this guard? My parts book does not show it. I'm also looking for a straight guard like the one in the picture, if there is such a thing! Thanks for any input.

Totally unrelated to the post.....but can anyone tell me why I can see the images in the preview section to the post, but I get this mess when I actually post it? I've had this happen quite a bit.....I'll try to clean up this later.

Mine bolts on directly to the tanks so it sits closer to the radiator, if you took your bracket off and moved the gaurd straight back that's what mine is like. Who nows which is correct, maybe both.

In my M parts book there is no picture but the radiator gaurd group comes with 1-gaurd and 4- 5/16x1-1/2" bolts which it says would replace the tank bolts.

Thanks Lonnie....these monting brackets look almost to good to not be factory. Wonder what the advantage is to the extra distance from guard to radiator?

I think I know the answer. Yours does look too good to be not original so I looked in a newer parts book and it lists radiator curtain assembly and calls for rods which you have on yours and I don't on mine so the bracket moves the gaurd out and gives a place to install the vertical rods for the curtain.
