Series I or II?  Power steering?  Wide front?  Factory 3 point or after market?  Tire condition?  Does it jump out of any gears?
All these can really affect price.  From what youu have given, here in Oklahoma $1500-$4000.

When you get the transmission fixed, you'll wish you did only pay 750, those gears and locks are out of sight!!

In the condition you tell of, I'd say $2000. to $2500.  The bad transmission is a big dollar fix.  The engine overhaul may or may not help the price.  If someone did an engine overhaul but left the bad transmission, I'd be just a little curious about the quality of the engine job.  Not all engine jobs are equal and and many are kind of for looks only.

..... did the engine cause it was running on 2 cylinders... and he only plows his driveway with it so he dosen't use 3rd gear.. she jumps out of 3rd... it sits all summer in the garage and uses it when it snows thats it... he don't have much to do with tractors or the farm

I'd agree with John (Mo) though I would try to buy it for less.
Series II is worth more than Series I by quite a bit.

I know that this isn't the same tractor, but I'm in the middle of a transmission rebuild for a D14 that jumped out of third. By the time I'm done I will have invested $1500 to $2000 and that doesn't count a lot of labor hours. I figure my time as free cause my wife says that it keeps me off the street and she always knows where I am. Hate to make you feel bad but if I were bidding on it my first offer would be around $1000 and see where we could go from there. It goes like this. If you're going to rebuild the tranny you might as well do the power director while you're there and since everything is apart add brakes, then new seals and bearings (since things are apart). It's never going to make you any money. It's all about love :)
